Kirstin Green loves to teach her skills to others. She has taught mosaic workshops to high school art classes, small groups of girls, and many others. She has also worked closely with high schoolers teaching papermaking and other general art skills. While in Ghana, she hopes to continue teaching art and working with young people, helping them to realize their skills and potential.

THE CONCERT  IN THE PARK MOSAIC

In the spring of 2002 Kirstin and  high-school student (and friend!) Kari Cross conceived, passed through City Council and completed a large scale public mosaic in the town of Coronado. This piece was the first public art that Coronado has commissioned in many years, and has set a new precedent for future pieces. A volunteer project, this mosaic was finished with the help of high school students and community members. The project lasted a month, and now Coronado boasts a fine population of young mosaic artists. Students have gone on to do other interesting projects involving mosaics.
Kirstin is very proud of her kids! This mosaic also led to another large scale public piece, also in Coronado.

A GIRLS WORLD WORKSHOP

Teaching a group of girls age 7-17 mosaic skills

While deeply involved in mosaic making, Kirstin is taking a hiatus from the medium for a two year stint in the Peace Corps starting in mid September 2002. However, while in Ghana (that's West Africa), she will be checking her e-mail and maintaing contact with individuals here. Don't hesitate to write, you will hear back (at least eventually!).
